Associate Professor of Neuroradiology & Interventional Neuroradiology Gold Coast University Hospital Director of Training Interventional Neuroradiology Gold Coast University Hospital Gold Coast Neurosciences Institute Partner Qscan Radiology Clinics Co-founder Neutex Dr Laetitia de Villiers is a Senior Neurointerventional Radiologist at the Gold Coast University Hospital and a Partner at Qscan Radiology Clinics. She completed her specialist radiology training, followed by an advanced Interventional Radiology Fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, Australia. She then gained an advanced Specialist Fellowship in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at the Mt Sinai Medical Center, New York. On returning to Australia Dr de Villiers practiced as a specialist consultant (attending) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, in Interventional Neuroradiology before moving to the Gold Coast where she holds the position of Senior Consultant Neurointerventionist. Laetitia has an academic interest in new technologies in intracranial aneurysm, vascular malformation and ischaemic stroke treatment. Together with her colleague, Dr Hal Rice, they have established the Gold Coast Hospital as an international site for evaluating and introducing new technologies in neurointervention. She was the first women in the world to perform a robotic endovascular intracranial aneurysm treatment. She is actively involved in ongoing research, is a published author and serves on the editorial board of several journals. She is a cohost of regular training workshops in Advanced Neuroendovascular Techniques for national and international neuroendovascular specialists, the Gold Coast Fellows Training Course for Australian and New Zealand Neurointerventional advanced trainees and the Annual National Neurointerventional M&M meeting. She is currently involved in developing new training pathways/curriculum and accreditation of neurointerventionists in Australia and New Zealand and is an examiner for the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiology. Dr de Villiers cohosted the World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology (WFITN) 13th World Congress on the Gold Coast in 2015, and is an invited international speaker on Neurointervention and women’s engagement in medicine and business.
