Dr Jacob Ollapallil
Ollapallil Jacob, general surgeon and director of surgery, at Alice Springs hospital and senior lecturer of the Flinders University for 21 years and retired from services in 2021 After completing surgical training in multiple disciplines in India, he worked in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea as a genera surgeon and senior lecturer of the University of Papua New Guinea for 14 years. His clinical and research areas of interest are Trauma, acute pancreatitis and delivery of surgical services to indigenous people across barriers of distance and culture. Dr Jacob is the first recipient of the Indigenous health medal from the College of Surgeons for his continues and sustained services for the indigenous people for central Australia and also received the NT chief ministers award for outstanding and meritorious service in the Northern Territory public sector.
