Dr Melanie Jansen is a paediatric intensive care specialist and Clinical Ethicist. She has a Master of Arts in Philosophy and worked to establish the Centre for Children’s Health Ethics & Law (CCHEL) at Children’s Health Queensland, where she worked as the inaugural Clinical Ethics Fellow. Melanie completed a Churchill Fellowship in Clinical Ethics during which she visited clinical ethics centres in Europe, the UK, USA, and Canada. Melanie’s ethics interest areas include critical care decision making, end of life, healthcare rationing, and relational skills training. Melanie works as a Paediatric Intensive Care Specialist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, and is the Clinical Ethicist for Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. She is passionate about the creative arts and medical humanities, and is a published poet.
