CICM Paediatric Practice Exam VIVA session

Welcome to the CICM Online Practice Examinations Program for 2024.

These sessions are created for CICM Paediatric trainees specifically. There are limited number of registrations.

Once you register you will either be an “active participant” or “observing participant” – this is on a “first in best dressed” basis. The active participants will be candidates for the vivas and the “observing participants” will get an opportunity to observe (watching how others answer vivas is still a useful experience). Participants who register as an observer should be prepared to participate in case of no shows, or low registration numbers.

How many VIVAs are there?

4 x 12 minute VIVAs (1 minute reading, 8 minute VIVA and 3 minutes feedback)

What do I need to do?

• These sessions will be run on MS Teams with College support.
• Register with a valid MS Teams email address/account – DO NOT USE AN ACCOUNT NOT ASSOCIATED WITH MS TEAMS AS YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE.
• Ensure you have set aside protected time for the session (e.g. you are not rostered on duties that take you away in the middle of the session or distract you.)
• Be on time for each session.
• Being nervous/unsure is common. We encourage you to “give it a go”. Our feedback indicates that past attendees have found these sessions very useful (both as active and reserve participants)
• Fill in the feedback form at the end of the examination period. We do review all feedback and aim to implement changes based on the feedback received.

What will the Quizmasters do?

• The Quizmasters will be a mixture of trainees who have passed the exam, fellows of CICM, and some may even be examiners.
• The Quizmasters will not give you a pass or fail, as most of the quizmasters are not college examiners.
• They will discuss the things you did well and suggest areas for improvement.
